February: pruning the cherry trees

Winter pruning of fruit trees is a common practice that is carried out to encourage the production of new fruit, eliminating weak or damaged branches and maintaining only the strong and healthy ones.

Pruning helps me control the size of the cherry tree, maintain its shape, and prevent the spread of plant diseases and pests.

To help the cut heal and prevent the entry of fungi and mold, I cover the cut with wax.

The ripening of cherries occurs in the second half of spring and at the beginning of summer: then we will be ready to make our delicious cherry jam.
